Sentinel UHF Point to Point Digital Radio

The Sentinel range of digital data radios are dedicated end user telemetry radios for small, medium or large area networks. The Sentinel digital radio is highly suited to data transmission applications within SCADA systems requiring Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multi-Point operation.

Key features of the Sentinel digital radio are :-

A key aspect of the above features is the network management system (NMS). The NMS is inobtrusive to the network operation and requires no operational break in the SCADA data flow.

The Sentinel data radio embedded data transport protocol uses a proprietary encapsulating technique which employs header information called SIDS. This permits all manner of host data to be transported and uniquely delivered quite independent of the formal host protocol. Complex networks using concurrent yet different protocols are therefore possible as are ‘group call’ and routed delivery mechanisms.

The Sentinel data modem range is designed for world-wide applications and in particular meets the stringent specifications needed for European operation (ETS 300 113).

The Sentinel range consists of the following hardware :-

ER450 Digital Radio Outstation

The ER450 outstation data radio is housed in a compact die-cast enclosure and has a 5W maximum RF output. Normally available as a half-duplex radio, a full duplex version is available as an option.

Using DSP based GMSK and 4LFSK techniques, the integral modem features error checked high speed data rates up to 19,200 baud with two separate data inputs and internal multiplexer.

EB450 Digital Base Station

The EB450 base station/scanner data radio is housed in a rugged 2U high 19" mountable enclosure and is capable of 5W continuous RF output. Using DSP based GMSK and 4LFSK techniques, the integral modem features error checked high speed data rates of up to 19,200 baud with two separate data inputs and internal multiplexer. Single aerial (with internal duplexer) or twin aerial operation versions are available.

When used with the ER450 outstation store and forward capability the geographic coverage of a radio scheme can be extended, an attribute particularly attractive for secondary automation networks and for remotely located outstations.

Use of two EB450 RF racks with the EH450 base station controller will allow duplicated hot standby operation
