Data communication is now a part of our daily lives whether it be our cell phone or short range Blue Tooth link etc.
Most of our daily encounters with radio are mass market solutions to communication needs. They are ubiquitous, price sensitive, high volume solutions that we take for granted and which also create a pre- conception as to what is or isn't possible using radio communciations.
Below these heady mass markets there is a lower level and more specific demand for radio data communications. Demands that are not mega high volume, that need cost effective A to B connectivity and which are specific to a manufacturer and /or a market sector.
These applications are as diverse as the electronics industry is wide. Traffic light control, water leak detection, public display control, robotics - the list is endless.
What is common is the need to provide a radio link that is ideally suited to the application and which frees the user from the rigid framework of public service networks where latency, data throughput and subscription billing are all frustrations.
W&D offer two routes to solve this problem. These are further supplemented with the Pacscom range of system level products.
For pure data communication applications such as a wireless RS232 data connections we offer a range of end user, ready to use radio modems.
For the OEM that has the vision of making a product more attractive in the market by adding an integrated radio device, there is a range of standard radio modules which will deliver a solution.
As mentioned elsewhere, these standard solutions may not precisely suit the final production radio module but they will at least deliver a reliable, well designed, well specified platform to prove the concept and take the project forward.

Radio Transmitter STn00
The STn00 radio transmitter range is intended to offer a cost effective building block solution to high volume OEM requirements where EN300 220 is the minimum specification requirement and RF power output levels to 100mW.
IMPORTANT - Please specify the operating frequencies you require programmed otherwise the units will be issued for operation on 458.5MHz to 458.85MHz with either 12.5kHz or 25kHz channel steps. For other variants please contact the factory.

The SRn00 radio receiver range is intended to offer cost effective building block solutions to high volume OEM requirements where EN 300 220 is the minimum specification required.

The SXn00 radio transceivers are intended to offer cost effective building block solutions to high volume OEM requirements where EN 300 220 is the minimum specification required.

The SXT450 radio transmitter is a special variant of the flag ship SX450 OEM radio transceiver available from Wood & Douglas. The SXT450 carries all the benefits of the SX450 but is configured to just provide a radio transmitter only function at 500mW RF output level.

Radio Modules for FCC Part 90
The T Series RF radio transceiver modules are 2W RF OEM radio modules that will satisfy the needs of Part 90 FCC North American applications.

Orion Radio Data Modem and RTU
The Orion radio modem combines the needs of a radio data modem with those of a small radio terminal unit (RTU). Data at speeds of up to 19,200 bps are seemlessly passed over the radio connection together with digital and analogue input output lines. This powerful combination dramatically expands the variety of uses the Orion radio modem can be deployed to satisfy.
Two versions are offered for sale on the web shop, a modem only version and a I/O version only. If a combined version is needed then consult the sales office.
