DVMO RX

dVMo-R2 / dVMo-MR2 Decoder / Radio Receivers

The dVMo system receiver station consists of a masthead unit close to the antenna and a receiver / demodulator / decoder remotely located. The masthead block will either be a pre-amplifier or a downconverter. Using this distributed architecture allows the best RF performance to be achieved.

The dVMo-R2 is the standard receiver/ demodulator /decoder for the dVMo system. Elsewhere on this site are details of the masthead electronics.

The radio signal from the masthead down to the receiver will fall within the tuning range of the dVMo-R2. The dVMo-R2 will decode this radio signal radio signal and demodulates it to deliver a serial data stream to the integral MPEG2 decoder. The decoder reconstitute the original video, audio and data signals.

All the dVMo receivers have dual diversity facilities. As explained elsewhere in the dVMo section, by having two receivers and comparing the data from each receiver it is possible to chose the optimum packet of data at any instant in time to ensure the best possible performance is achieved.

The dVMo-MR2 is a drop-in replacement for the dVMo-R2, providing enhanced signal-to-noise performance using Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC).

Both dVMo-R2 and dVMo-MR2 have a wide range floating earth power supply making them ideal for both ground and airborne applications.

dVMo-RMP Portable Decoder / Radio Receiver

The dVMo-RMP receiver is a small self contained receiver unit designed for operation where a small compact installation is required. Like the dVMo-MR2, the dVMo-RMP receiver uses dual-diversity MRC techniques for the best performance. The unit contains twin minature down-convertors allowing antennas to be directly connected to the rear panel or a limited remote distance providing cable losses are not too great.

Control of the dVMo-MRP is via two switches and twin 7 segment displays located on the front panel. The display shows which of the 10 possible operational memories or 'profiles' is currently selected. The profile can be changed using the buttons. Other facilities include the ability to mute (switch off) the front panel video display outputs and also to display the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) on the video monitor screen or as an indication on each of the 7 segment displays.

An optional enhanced security version of the dVMo-RMP is available to bona fide law enforcement agencies. dVMo-RDR The dVMo-RDR is the matching fast deployment receiver for use with the dVMo-RDT.
