Radio Type Acceptance

radio type approval

Designing and building a radio, while challenging, does not guarantee that once completed it can be sold for use on the open market.  There is the 'small' and often overlooked matter of getting the radio design 'type approved' to certify that it meets the current ruling and legislation for the use of radio communciation products.

This is a critical aspect of the design process.

Any radio launched onto the market must satisfy exacting criteria that define how well it will stand up to the harsh radio environment it will see when in use and also to check that it will not create interference to other users.

The tests that are defined by the authorities to check all these aspects are thorough and demanding.  Demanding not just on the radio but also the test equipment that will be needed to undertake the measurements.  Test equipment that is far from 'run of the mill' kit. A well designed radio can have its real performance completely masked if measured on poor test equipment.

Wood & Douglas has made the capital investment necessary to ensure that not only is the right equipment available to do this detailed testing but also that the self same equipment is the standard bench hardware for each of our highly skilled design engineering team.  This ensures no unpleasant surprises when the radio is measured either by our in-house test facility or by a third party test house.

W&D designs are designed to pass - first time, everytime.  No golden samples, no delicate specials wrapped in cotton wool.  Take a product off the product line, any product and it will pass the necessary tests.

In-house test facility ?  A calibrated 12m anachoic screened room, environmental test chambers ready for your project to be accurately qualified.

However your product does not have to have come through our design facility to benefit from this facility.  You can hire this resource for your own team to use.
